Spain Portugal July Tour 2025

Check in with your tour manager at OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg around 18:00. We fly to Barcelona for the start of our Spain / Portugal adventure.

After our arrival in Barcelona and clearing customs, we will depart to our hotel to refresh. In the afternoon your guide will walk you down the most famous street of Barcelona, La Rambla. La Rambla is a tree lined 1.2km road in central Barcelona, with loads of shopping opportunities and restaurants. Enjoy dinner in your own time. Perhaps a traditional seafood paella? Get a good night’s rest to feel fresh for the rest of the tour.

A free day to explore Barcelona. C the World recommends the world famous Sagrada Familia, the magic fountain show or for art lovers the Picasso Museum. Alternatively head down to one of the many famous beaches or jump on a hop on hop off bus that will show you all the main sites of Barcelona.

We leave Barcelona and travel to the capital city of Spain, Madrid! After our arrival in Madrid and checking into our hotel, we will enjoy a guided tour of all the main sites of Madrid including the Plaza Mayor, the oldest restaurant in the World, the Royal Palace and many more. After the guided tour we will enjoy dinner together as a group in a local restaurant.

A free day to explore Madrid. C the World recommends the Grand Via for shopping, tapas and Sangria for lunch or the Madrid Cable car.

After breakfast we depart for lunch in Salamanca, a beautiful city close to the border of Portugal. We will visit the historical centre and guests will enjoy some free time for lunch. We depart Salamanca and enter Portugal. Our first stop in Portugal is the World-famous town of Porto on the banks of the Douro river. The area is famous for port wine, so why not enjoy a port tasting? You can also visit the Dom Luis Bridge, the Cais da Ribeira (Medieval District) and the Cathedral.

A free morning to walk the streets of Porto. Around lunch time we depart to the capital city of Portugal, Lisbon. After our arrival in Lisbon we will enjoy dinner, and this is followed by a free evening. Your guide will always recommend the best areas for drinks and entertainment.

A morning guided tour of Lisbon shows you all the main sites of the capital city. The guided tour will give you a great feel of the city and your local guide will recommend the best things to do in your free afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to explore Lisbon at your own pace.

Today you will get the opportunity to see the amazing coastline of Portugal as we travel South from Lisbon, stopping at the coastal town of Lagos for lunch and free time. Lagos has some exquisite beaches. Why not rent a small boat and travel deep into the caves and alleys along the coastline? Late afternoon we depart to Albufeira the most popular of all towns along the Algarve.

We say goodbye to Portugal as we travel back into Spain and visit the city of Seville. An afternoon guided tour will show you the Santa Cruz (Jewish Quarter), the impressive Plaza de Espana, the Torre del Oro and the Seville cathedral.

Our first stop for the day is the cliff top town of Ronda. Ronda is world renowned for the spectacular views over the nearby mountains and off course for the Puente Nuevo bridge. We continue South onto the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun), the famous coast line of Southern Spain. After our arrival in Puerto Banus our guide will take you on an orientation tour of Puerto Banus. Puerto Banus is a small-town famous for the luxury yachts in the harbour, excellent beaches, restaurants, shopping and amazing night life.

We start the day in the mountain top town of Mijas, only a short drive from our hotel. Mijas is famous for its leather shops, so this is a great opportunity to get some leather souvenirs. The endless views over the Mediterranean, small alleys and the infamous donkeys makes this little town a town that you will never forget! We continue to the pearl of Spain, Granada. A short orientation tour around Granada is followed by free time. Why not visit the Alhambra?

We continue to Toledo, the ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain.

We make our way to the airport in Madrid for our return flight back to South Africa. We depart Madrid at 15:30

We arrive back in Johannesburg with a scheduled arrival time of 07:10 AM. Say goodbye to new friends made and take a life time of memories with you back home.
